Who was Louise Roudebush?

Louise Roudebush was a community organizer and champion for neighborhood solidarity in Central Eastern Durham County. Roudebush was the founder of the Agape House, a no-cost boarding school on Holloway St. for the underserved. There she created custom education for high-risk youth and instilled positive life skills for their families. Her tough love and steadfastness resulted in over 1,000 children impacted by her presence-urging students to persevere through societal bigotry to achieve their dreams. In recognition of her work, we're thrilled to lift up her legacy by holding this essay contest annually.
